May 03, 2020 · Facing the awning the arm on the left has the rewind spring. Loosen the left arm, pull it out just enough to clear the slide. Be very careful there is a lot of tension on the arm. With great ease turn the arm counter clock wise. One turn may give you the desired tension. if not turn arm one more turn. This should increase the tension on the Awning. My Carefree awning was replaced with a Dometic 9100 power one. They used the same Carefree control switch inside the coach which has an on/off power switch. don't know if it is the same size as the cutout for a Dometic switch but you could try and get a Carefree switch and swap it out.
